What's better than a beautiful handloom silk saree? A unique custom made One-of-a-Kind handloom saree woven for the FIRST time! This beautiful Gopalpur Tussar saree has been custom made with a special turquoise coloured pallu and border. It has been woven on the theme of marriage, or more precisely 'vidaai', as the bride goes to her husband's house, depicting the bride in the doli. This saree has been woven by Srikant Babu, who is a national award winner.

The pallu of the saree has special motifs which symbolises the Indian marriage like the kalash(urn) with the coconut and the lotus. It has a series of motifs woven to show the bride being carried in a doli to her husband's house after the marriage. These things are considered auspicious and holy in our tradition. The body of the saree is kept understated by adorning small butis throughout, in order to make the pallu the centre of attraction. The saree has a thick border and is lined with turquoise temple motifs. The elegant yet intricate design of this particular saree, woven by the skilled weavers of Gopalpur makes it very sophisticated and elegant.

Tussar silk has a rich coarse texture. It is very comfortable to wear even in summer as it's more porous and breathable in nature. It's very light and stiff in structure. Tussar silk sarees are made from silk that is produced from silk worms that breed on wild forest trees, not mulberry trees. They are very delicate and have a natural dull gold sheen to them.
